Many children know from a young age that they want to go into the world of fashion. Whether they spent their days making clothing for their dolls, sketching clothing on notepads, or pretending to be in a fashion store, they are lucky that they found their calling early. While many children want to enter the fashion world there are very few adults that make their dreams a reality.
One of the best things that you can do if you want to enter the fashion field is to get a Bachelor of Arts degree from a well known school. Not only will the school help you to hone your craft but it will also to pad your resume. Your first job out of college may not be a very glamorous one and you may not be able to start a name for yourself right away, so having a degree on your resume will be important if you want to enter the fashion field under another designer or be an intern.
While school and training is a great route, school is not for everyone. While it might be more difficult to enter the fashion work without a degree, there are many designers who have become successful by simply working for others and then starting their own line. If you are starting from the bottom, you need to understand that you will have to prove yourself. You will most likely be working under someone else and designing for them. But one thing will always remain true, you cannot teach creativity. If you are determined and creative then you will go far. But you will also have to be good at selling your designs and yourself to other companies. The best marketing for your designs will always be yourself getting out there and talking with people.
